Daniel Shaw

Study Co-lead, University of Pittsburgh

Since my childhood growing up just outside of the Nation’s Capitol, I have always been struck and disturbed by the social inequities experienced by minority populations in the US, which was most noticeable for Black families growing up in DC. Inspired by MLK and Robert Kennedy in the 1960’s, my academic career has been driven to identify factors that could reduce such inequities and preventive interventions that support young children’s thriving and flourishing.

I live in Squirrel Hill, but for past 31 years have done my professional work in many of Pittsburgh’s most low resource communities.
